XIV.- LOS EMPRESARIOS SERAN RESPONSABLES DE LOS ACCIDENTES DEL TRABAJO Y DE LAS ENFERMEDADES PROFESIONALES DE LOS TRABAJADORES, SUFRIDAS CON MOTIVO O EN EJERCICIO DE LA PROFESION O TRABAJO QUE EJECUTEN; POR LO TANTO, LOS PATRONOS DEBERAN PAGAR LA INDEMNIZACION CORRESPONDIENTE, SEGUN QUE HAYA TRAIDO COMO CONSECUENCIA LA MUERTE O SIMPLEMENTE INCAPACIDAD TEMPORAL O PERMANENTE PARA TRABAJAR, DE ACUERDO CON LO QUE LAS LEYES DETERMINEN. ESTA RESPONSABILIDAD SUBSISTIRA AUN EN EL CASO DE QUE EL PATRONO CONTRATE EL TRABAJO POR UN INTERMEDIARIO;

1 Injured After Plane Overshoots Runway At O'Hare

One person was hospitalized after a Mexicana Airlines flight with 142 passengers on board overshot a runway upon landing Friday night at O'Hare International Airport. Mexicana Flight 802 overshot the runway about 7 p.m., according to Dept. of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride, who said an arrester bed at the end of the runway prevented the plane from going any further. Pride said 142 passengers were on board. One person was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center in "stable" condition, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado. The person was a member of the crew and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including bumps and bruises, according to Rosado. All passengers were unloaded through the rear exit of the plane via a fire department truck with a ladder specially built to unload airplane passengers, Rosado said. Passengers were escorted from the runway to buses and were taken to the terminal to catch connecting flights, Rosado said. Rosado said 141 passengers refused treatment and were treated and released. The plane, an Airbus Industrie A320, originated from Juarez International Airport in Mexico City, according to a flight tracker Web site. The FAA is investigating.

Dear Laura
My husband was on that flight and everyone on the plane was ejected out of their seats when the pilot put the plane into reverse. He was forced to sign a waiver stating that he had no injuries. Sounds pretty shady to me considering he probably won't feel that he is hurt until tomarrow. All the airlines gave people were a "free" hotal stay and some dinner vouchers. That is bogus and everyone on that flight should be given more than just that.

Dear Anne:

I am deeply sorry about the experience your husband went through, but I regret the most about the airline forcing him to sign the waiver (after all he is still not sure he was not injured), because some times injures happen to show up only days after the issue occurred.

I would advise your husband to be examined by a doctor as soon as he can and then to contact an attorney in order to find out what can be done and his legal right against the airline.

I think it's a pitty the airline did not show the attention and comfort a pasenger is supposed to receive from them because, after all, they are a company offering services:-(

Best regards.
